Hawkers is a local hero that originated in Orlando and has since expanded offering their unforgettable dining experience that celebrates the vibrant flavors of Asian cuisine to many surrounding states. While its semi-open kitchen and stunning bar add to the ambiance, it's the food that truly steals the show at its Windermere location, 9100 Conroy Windermere Road, Suite 110, Windermere; (407) 583-6334.

The menu at Hawkers is a delightful mosaic of beloved Asian dishes across a wide cultural and regional spectrum. The menu is a reflection of the diverse roots that make up their family's heritage which spans various Asian cultures and countries. Each dish shares a story of tradition and innovation.

Among my favorite menu highlights are the shareable items, which allow diners to embark on a diverse journey through Asia's rich culinary tapestry. Personal favorites include the Roti, a delectable flatbread served with an irresistible gravy-like dipping sauce. The dim sum offerings, including soup dumplings, golden wontons and classic chicken dumplings, tantalize the tastebuds and leave you craving for more. And who can resist the soft and flavorful bao buns, packed with succulent proteins like roast duck, spicy chicken, BBQ pork or salty pork belly?

Accompanying the smaller shareables are larger options such as duck fried rice and traditional Pad Thai, each bursting with authentic flavors. The signature C.K.T. dish, brimming with a delightful blend of sweet and savory flavors, is a must-try.

While sharing is encouraged — and when dining with me is a must — Hawkers also caters to those seeking a dish to call their own. From comforting curries to soul-satisfying ramen, there are plenty of options that promise that will transport you to the bustling streets of Asia and leave you satisfied.

No visit to Hawkers is complete without indulging in their JO-HÉ Bag O’ Donuts. These piping hot, house-made donut holes, dusted with powdered sugar and served with a salted caramel dipping sauce, are the perfect sweet ending to your meal.

With a menu as diverse as Hawkers, multiple visits are a must.

And let's not forget about the drinks! Hawkers' full drink menu offers signature cocktails, including an impressive selection of sake, ensuring every visit is a memorable one.

For a more relaxed experience, we recommend visiting during lunchtime, when crowds are slightly smaller, allowing you to savor each bite and immerse yourself in the flavors of Asia.

The vibe is very casual. Servers in T-shirts and jeans help diners feel relaxed, while the centered large bar, concrete floors and neon lights above the kitchen give a “street” feel to the restaurant. The patio seating with adorned bright yellow umbrellas at the Windermere location is also a welcome respite from a boring day.

Servers are knowledgeable about the menu. They know the origin of the dishes and can easily help you pair items together to ensure you get a diverse and complementary meal.

This week, get out and try something fun! Hawkers is a destination in and of itself, and I promise, once you sit down, you’ll think of a friend that needs to go with you next time.
