World renowned trombonist Wycliffe Gordon, jazz singer LeNard Rutledge and the University of Florida Jazz Band were the featured guests at the fifth annual HapCO Sunshine Jazz Festival Feb. 7, at Ocoee High School.
The festival was a fundraiser for the local HapCO Music Foundation, founded by Oakland Town Commissioner Joseph “Patrick” McMullen.
During the day, music students enjoyed clinics, and later in the evening, the Ocoee High School Jazz Band also took the stage alongside the guest artists. Senior sax player Andrew Kennedy was surprised with a music scholarship during the event.
