Foundation grants money to charity

The Greater Orlando Builders Association Foundation, the charitable arm of the Greater Orlando Builders Association, recently granted more than $20,000 to six local children’s charities.

Led by President Dave Schmitt, of Dave Schmitt Engineering, the Board of Trustees selected New Hope for Kids, Elevate Orlando, Help Save A Limb, Jeremiah Project, Camp Thunderbird and Florida’s Vision Quest as their primary focus for 2014 charitable contributions.

Grants range from $2,000 to $4,000.

“This donation from the GOBA Foundation is a vote of confidence in the work that these wonderful charities are doing for children in the Central Florida community,”  Schmitt said. “The goals of the foundation, to support youth and education, are furthered by their efforts. To that end, we are delighted to play even a small role, through these funds, in their continued success.”

The foundation also awarded over $7,000 in scholarships to four UCF and five Valencia College students.

Chartered in 1985, the foundation was established as a 501(C)(3) tax-exempt organization with a separate and distinct Board of Trustees, dedicated to raising funds for organizations that help children and families in need.   It also offersscholarships to students enrolled at Valencia Community College and the University of Central Florida.
