ALTAMONTE SPRINGS — The bats for the Winter Garden Squeeze never quite got going on Saturday night as the Squeeze (1-1) dropped the second game of a two-game series against the Altamonte Springs Boom, 7-1.
The game was the first-ever home game for the Boom (1-1) and was twice delayed for roughly a half hour due to injuries to an umpire.
David Herrera (Newman) got the start for Winter Garden and, after being hit with a ball in the leg, struggled and allowed four runs over two innings. Caleb Maggio (Samford) came on in relief and tossed four strong innings, allowing just one unearned run.
The lone RBI of the evening for the Squeeze came off the bat of Bryant Miranda (Coppin St.) in the top of the eighth on an infield single.
Winter Garden will return to action on Monday at home against DeLand (0-1).
