WINTER GARDEN — Skill position football players from around Central Florida converged on the campus of Foundation Academy in Winter Garden on June 13 for the 2015 Strike 7-on-7 Orlando tournament.
The two-hand touch event was sponsored by the U.S. Army.
Though Wiregrass Ranch (Wesley Chapel) took home first place and Lake Mary was the event's runner-up, the Lions (Class 2A during the regular season) performed admirably and scored wins over Evans and Lake Mary (both in Class 8A).
Offensively, Foundation took advantage of the competition as an occasion to work out all three quarterbacks that will be on its roster this fall. On defense, Lestor Axson stood out with six interceptions over the course of the tournament.
Also, in the lineman individual contest, the Lions dominated with Dillon Hall taking first place, Jordan Boast taking secon and Casey Lemke finishing third. Foundation also won the team linemen contest.
