A young man sinks a basketball at the old West Orange High School in this 2007 photograph, just before its demolition and replacement with a new facility constructed further south. The original campus was built in 1974 on Beulah Road in Winter Garden to accommodate students from Lakeview and Ocoee high schools. The football field in the background was named in honor of past principal Raymond Screws.
The Winter Garden Heritage Foundation, which seeks to preserve our heritage and architecture while creating new cultural experiences, is celebrating its third decade with the debut of its new History Research and Education Center.
