In the FHSAA State Playoffs regional tournament quarterfinals, the West Orange Warriors held a consistent lead over the Timber Creek Wolves, defeating them 25-20, 25-13, 25-16.
Makala Heidelberg led the team with 14 kills, 9 digs and 2 aces. Sydney Bowles had 17 digs and 2 aces.
The team stayed positive throughout the game, and that led them to have a strong lead during the game, coach Ross Usie said.
"If they lose one or two points, they stay on each other — they stay positive," Usie said. "They know they have the competence to finish it and overcome it."
The team heads to the semifinals on Saturday, Oct. 31. West Orange will host Apopka at 2 p.m.
