GALLERY: Montessori of Winter Garden Charter School International Peace Day Celebration

WINTER GARDEN—On Sept. 21, the Montessori of Winter Garden Charter School hosted their second annual International Peace Day celebration. Students and teachers dressed in outfits that represented peace to them.

During the morning, students gathered outside for the celebration, which included songs about peace, a peace pole, a Tai Chi lesson and a drum performance. Students were encouraged think about what they could do to promote peace.

In 1981, the United Nations created the International Day of Peace, which is celebrated around the world each year on Sept. 21. The day promotes peace and non-violence.
