CELEBRATION There was a point during Thursday's district championship match where the Olympia Titans led the Dr. Phillips Panthers by just a single goal.
Of course, from that point on, Olympia's 4-3 lead ballooned into a 24-3 as the Titans (18-2) ran away with the District 13 Championship at Celebration High School. Olympia's 24-5 victory marked the program's fifth-consecutive district crown.
"We just called a timeout and said 'play our game,'" head coach Chip Carbiener said, referencing the slow start for his team.
Dr. Phillips concluded a strong season with a 13-3 record.
The Titans will now play the winner of the District 14 Championship at 7 p.m. April 15 in the FHSAA First-Round Play-In Game. For the moment, though, the program can celebrate that — in spite of being on its third coach in as many years — it also has continued a string of district titles that predates any player currently on the roster.
"I think the biggest thing, even with all the different coaches, is just the focus on fundamentals," Carbiener said.
