WINTER GARDEN For a second consecutive year, West Orange High School was one of the places to be on National Signing Day in Central Florida.
With television cameras from local news stations rolling, the Warriors celebrated the signings of nine players to collegiate programs. Many are going to compete on a full scholarship at the Division I-level.
For head coach Bob Head, who has had some strong classes in his years as a head coach at West Orange and previously Olympia, the star power of this class is something to behold.
"We had five (signees) one year (at Olympia) and it was a huge deal — now we have nine full-ride signees," Head said. "I'm ecstatic. We could have up to six more kids sign."
Warriors who were recognized Wednesday included Stone Forsythe (Florida), Eddie McDoom (Michigan), Woody Barrett (Auburn), Nolan DeFranco (UNC), Jeremy Samuels (The Citadel), Dejour Nesbeth (Tennessee State), Decary Croaker (Valdosta State), Jeffrey Kennedy (Southeastern) and Ben Bollinger (Air Force).
"We really have a good crop of kids that colleges want in their program because we're coaching them hard," Head said.
