Softball: Dr. Phillips tops Ocoee in extra innings

OCOEE After trailing Ocoee 5-1 entering the fifth inning, the Dr. Phillips softball team rallied and eventually topped the host Knights 8-7 Tuesday afternoon.

Freshman Raychel Trocki singled home junior Nini Underwood in the top of the eighth for what would be the eventual game-winning run. Trocki went 3-for-5 at the plate on the day and also allowed just one earned run on the mound for Dr. Phillips.

The victory was the first for the Panthers (1-2) under new head coach Mike Gale.

The game was decided in the eighth inning, which was played under "Texas Tiebreaker" rules to help speed up its conclusion. The softball and baseball fields at Ocoee High are not lighted and the sun was setting.
