ORLANDO The Windermere Prep Lakers scored another convincing win Jan. 9, taking care of the Hagerty Huskies 89-59 at the annual Showdown in O-Town showcase, held at Orlando Christian Prep.
Behind Xion Golding's 24 points, the Lakers (15-1) took a double-digit lead after one quarter and never looked back. Parker Davis had 17 points and David Nickelberry chipped in 13 points on the day.
Later, the Dr. Phillips Panthers suffered just their third loss of the season, falling 74-59 to Lake Highland Prep. Justin Tucker led the Panthers with 17 points and 6 rebounds, but got in foul trouble early to limit his minutes. Dr. Phillips fell to 14-3 on the year.
The Showdown in O-Town is an annual event pitting public versus private schools in the area and is sponsored by Orlando Hoops (ohoops.com).
