WINTER GARDEN Girls from western portions of Orange County, as well as part of Lake County, converged on West Orange High Jan. 14 for the FHSAA Class 2A District 9 Meet.

The event saw competitors from West Orange, Ocoee, Dr. Phillips, Olympia, Wekiva, Apopka, Lake Minneola and East Ridge take to the bench press and clean and jerk lifts to determine district champions and advance to the regional round of competition.

So far as team competition, Dr. Phillips followed capturing the West Metro Championship in December by securing a district championship Thursday evening. Rounding out the top-three was Ocoee.
