LAKE BUTLER Leading 5-4 in the second quarter over rival Olympia, the Dr. Phillips boys lacrosse team turned things up a notch and outscored the Titans 11-0 the rest of the way, securing a 16-4 win March 8.
The victory was the eighth straight for the Panthers (8-2), after starting the season with a pair of losses against elite programs in Bishop Moore and Martin County.
“I think the first couple games always test what you’ve been working on in the offseason and the first couple weeks," coach Charlie Battaglini said. "Once we saw what was going on, we made some adjustments defensively, and on the offensive side, and things started to click."
Sophomore Mike Berkman scored six goals and assisted on two more while junior Zach Conner scored four goals to lead Dr. Phillips.
