WINTER GARDEN Legacy Charter High School celebrated its recent National Blue Ribbon School designation Friday, March 11, with a brief ceremony and balloon release at the school. National Blue Ribbon awards recognize both public and private elementary, middle and high schools based on overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps among student groups. Legacy was one of the exemplary high-performing schools.
Many special guests attended the ceremony, including: Orange County Public Schools Associate Superintendent for School Choice Christopher Bernier; Congressman Daniel Webster; OCPS and Legacy High board members; Ocoee Mayor Rusty Johnson and Winter Garden Mayor John Rees. Legacy High students were in charge of releasing the balloons, which were biodegradable.
