In its first annual St. Baldrick’s Day event, the Winter Garden Professional Firefighters International Association of Firefighters Local chapter 4947 raised more than $1,300 to fight childhood cancer.
Firefighters and community members raised money for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, and on March 17 at the Crooked Can, they shaved their heads to honor children with cancer, with the goal of ending childhood cancer.
Stylists Lauren Hockenberry and Paula Hodge, from the Vintage Sky Salon in Winter Garden, donated their time to cut the men’s hair.
St. Baldrick’s Day was celebrated in more than 1,000 locations across the world this year, and the event collectively raised more than $18.4 million.
