LETTER: What's the plan?

The Windermere vote on whether to increase the debt limit reminded me of the old Wendy’s commercial,  “Where’s the beef?”

Dear Editor:

The Windermere vote on whether to increase the debt limit reminded me of the old Wendy’s commercial,  “Where’s the beef?”

I would have voted yes on the debt proposal if the town had shown us a definitive architectural plan. Questions would have been answered. For example: Would we lose downtown space? Would our downtown still look historic and inviting? Where exactly are they planning to build? Would they be taking the downtown basketball court? Would we still have plenty of downtown space for all of our fun town activities — food trucks, farmers market, Wine & Dine, Arbor Day, art festival and others.

The town fathers said they didn’t want to spend money for design before they knew they had the money. I believe this town would enthusiastically support a plan to improve downtown. Everyone knows the police building is in serious need of upgrading. And the administrative offices probably need reconfiguring too. Show us a good design plan, and I believe you will see a positive vote count.
