Be the light

The Winter Park Chamber of Commerce is in the business of promoting and sustaining our thriving business climate – rarely do we find ourselves in the role of developing economic opportunity like recruiting a new business to move to town. But in April, the Chamber’s Leadership Winter Park program is hosting the Association of Leadership Programs 2016 Southeast Regional Conference and bringing attendees from 27 leadership programs to Winter Park for networking and professional development.

The two-day conference presented by Bright House Networks is scheduled for April 7 and 8 at Valencia College’s Winter Park campus and will feature a number of workshops and breakout sessions to support the conference theme, “Be the Light: Illuminate Your Program’s Path to Greatness.”

In addition, a special luncheon program will feature John Mattone, one of the world’s top-10 leadership coaches and best-selling author of “Intelligent Leadership.” The luncheon will be held on Friday, April 8, from 12:15 to 1:45 p.m. at The Alfond Inn. Mattone will speak on how leaders can unlock and unleash greatness in themselves and their teams in order to create a compelling, winning culture that drives operating results. Winter Park’s ultimate foodie festival

The Winter Park Chamber of Commerce’s annual showcase of local eateries has grown over the years to be known as “the ultimate foodie festival.” The 31st annual Taste of Winter Park presented by CenturyLink is expected to live up to the moniker on Wednesday, April 20, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Winter Park Farmers Market.

The event attracts residents and visitors alike to experience a unique recipe of fine food, drinks and live music in downtown Winter Park. This year, 40 of the area’s top chefs, bakers, caterers and confectioners are expected to participate and compete for bragging rights in seven different categories.

In addition to the delicious dishes, guests will enjoy live entertainment by saxophonist Johnny Mag Sax, a silent auction and drawing for a trip for two to Ireland!

Tickets for both the event and the raffle can be purchased at the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce located at 151 W. Lyman Ave., by calling 407-644-8281 or online at winterpark.org. Stay up-to-date with event details at facebook.com/tasteofwinterpark or @WinterParkTaste on Twitter.

Erika Spence is the senior director of marketing and communications at the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce.
