WINTER GARDEN Maryland Fried Chicken at 13675 W. Colonial Drive in Winter Garden was temporarily closed by Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation’s Division of Hotels and Restaurants after an inspection discovered live roaches.

An inspection May 9 found 11 violations, most of which were basic concerns and corrected on site during the inspection. However, inspectors noted Raid, which is intended for households only, and a toxic substance improperly stored. Both of these violations were corrected on site. Inspectors also discovered at least 22 roaches in the store.

Inspectors returned May 10, and found that several roaches remained in the store. Tables were taken outside to be cleaned.

The Division of Hotels and Restaurants regularly inspects restaurants and hotels to ascertain that the establishments are compliant with state sanitation and safety laws.

Maryland Fried Chicken declined comment May 11.
