LAKE BUTLER The Olympia Titans defense forced three turnovers — all by fumble — and rising junior quarterback Joe Milton ran for one touchdown and threw for another to help offset the disappointment of a 45-14 spring football game loss to Wekiva.
The final score included 14 points for Wekiva that were scored during the fourth quarter, during which the two teams utilized their junior varsity players. The unofficial final score for the varsity teams was 31-14 in favor of the Mustangs through three quarters.
Wekiva led 14-7 after a wild first half that saw the Titans force and recover three fumbles — with Andrew Wilkins, Ronald Teague and Malachi Moore each getting his hands on a loose ball for Olympia. Milton keyed a drive early in the second quarter that ended with his diving into the endzone, tying the game at 7-7.
The second half would see the Mustangs respond swiftly, though, two touchdowns and a field goal in the third quarter. After the Titans originally went with backup quarterback Jake Clarkson for the first three drives of the second half, Milton returned to the field for the fourth drive and connected on three consecutive passes — the third of which was a 60-yard touchdown strike to Derrick Bell.
Olympia's JV unit was outscored 14-0 in the game's final quarter.
