WINTER GARDEN Playing their third game in as many nights, West Orange volleyball topped visiting Apopka Sept. 2 in a district match, 3-1 (25-17, 15-25, 25-22, 25-19).
Before defeating the Blue Darters Thursday night, the Warriors had defeated Wekiva on Tuesday, 3-0, and Merritt Island on Wednesday, 3-2.
"It was really tiring but it was really exciting," junior Baylor Bumford said of the three-game stretch.
Bumford had 10 kills, 27 assists and 12 digs for West Orange (3-1, 2-0 district) to go along with 22 kills and 26 digs from Makala Heidelberg. Freshman Taylor Head had another strong outing with 16 kills and 15 digs.
For Apopka (4-3, 1-1 district), junior Kayla Tapscott had 16 kills and senior Abby Weaver pitched in 12 kills in the defeat.
For the Warriors: West Orange will travel to take on Evans Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. in another district match. The Trojans are winless this season.
For the Blue Darters: Apopka will take on crosstown rival Wekiva Sept. 13 at 7:30 p.m. in a district match.
