ORLANDO The First Academy volleyball team earned its third consecutive victory Thursday night with its sweep of visiting Lake Nona, 3-0 (25-12, 25-14, 25-13).
The victory came as the Royals (11-1) celebrated the careers of its two seniors, Laney Green and Brynna Deluzio. The two veterans for TFA led the team on the night, with Green record 20 digs and six assists and Deluzio finishing with 15 kills and 15 digs.
For The First Academy: The Royals will participate in a tournament Saturday morning at Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School with scheduled games against Gulf Coast, Sarasota and North Port.
Following the tournament, TFA will prepare for some big games in October, including a televised game at Olympia Oct. 4 and games against Bishop Moore and Lake Highland Prep Oct. 11 and Oct. 14, respectively.
"That's two big games in one week, which is kind of tough but it is definitely doable," head coach Haley Malone said. "They're incredibly talented teams and very well-coached. It'll be great to have good competition — but it'll be even better to win, of course."
