ORLANDO Another year, another trip to the state quarterfinals of the FHSAA Water Polo Championships for the Olympia Titans girls water polo team.

The Titans (28-0) scored a 13-2 victory over Lake Nona Saturday afternoon, knocking off the squad that had ended Olympia's season in 2014 and 2015. The game took place at the pool on the campus of Lake Highland Prep.

It is the fourth consecutive season the girls program has advanced to at least the state quarterfinals.

"Our girls make good adjustments that they need to make and they play as a team," head coach Stephanie Johnson-Possell said. 

Marcela Herrera had four steals, two assists and two scores for Olympia, while Jillian DeLisle had four scores, drew seven ejections and had two steals. In goal, Claire Ewoldt had 12 saves — good for an 83 percent save ratio — and two steals.

The win continues the undefeated run for last spring's state runners-up, though Johnson-Possell says the focus is solely on winning the next match in Miami on Friday.

"That's not really focus — the 25-0 (regular season) happened,  it wasn't the goal," Johnson-Possell said. "The goal is one possession, one goal, one game at a time. That's the goal, and good things are happening along the way."
