Photos: West Orange softball tops Apopka for 3rd consecutive district title -- Observer Preps

APOPKA Lauren Mathis pitched a complete-game shutout and the West Orange softball team won its third consecutive district championship April 27 with a 2-0 victory over the host Apopka Blue Darters in the FHSAA District 9A-3 Championship.

Mathis allowed just two hits in her seven innings of work, striking out 11 batters.

Hailey Penrose and Amanda Fleming each had RBIs for West Orange (23-3), driving in Amanda Denis and Julia Sniffen.

Nyah Vogel pitched well for Apopka (17-10) in defeat, allowing just five hits over six innings of work. 

Jadyn Lindroth and Kenzie Tracy each had hits for the Blue Darters.

Both teams advance to the FHSAA Class 9A Playoffs, beginning May 3 with the regional quarterfinals.
