After her team won the Florida State Championship, one of Tabitha Perry’s softball coaches, Rex Smith, hailed her as one of best leaders on her team, especially in the final games of her team’s season.

“She came up with big hits right when we needed them,” Smith said.

Why do you like playing softball?

It’s an active thing to do. It’s just fun to play the game and the strategy of the game. And it’s fun to be able to be with my teammates.

What do you like about playing first base?

I’m a lefty, so I love being in the infield, because I feel like I get to do more things there.

How do you think your team did this season?

I think we did (well). We didn’t get down, and we always stayed positive.

What was it like going into the tournament?

It was kind of nervous, because we wanted to win. I hoped we would do OK and try our best. It was probably the best game we played the whole tournament.

What is one piece of advice your coach has given you that’s helped your game?

Stay positive. If you make a bad play, move on to the next one.

What is one thing you feel you need to improve on?

Paying attention to the ball when I hit and finding ways to get on base to help my teammates score.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

Super speed, because then I’d be able to run the bases really fast.

What is your favorite animal?

Dogs, because they’re cute.

What do you like to do for fun?

Play with my softball friends or play on the iPad. I like to watch YouTube videos.
