WINDERMERE The very first regular season game for the varsity volleyball program at Windermere High welcomed a very talented — and experienced — Olympia Titans team to campus.
In spite of some strong sequences for the Wolverines, who do not have any seniors on campus this year, Olympia (2-1) swept the Metro Conference match, 3-0 (25-9, 25-15, 25-19).
Alix Polk finished with 14 kills, 12 digs and three aces to lead the Titans, while Johnna Shamley chipped in 18 digs, nine kills and three aces.
A silver-lining for the Wolverines (0-1) came in the form of improving with each passing set and several long volleys that showcased the team's defensive abilities.
Olympia will now return to its home floor for a pair of home games — August 29 against Wekiva and August 31 against West Orange.
Windermere returns to action September 5 at home against West Port.
