APOPKA The West Orange Warriors and Wekiva Mustangs girls basketball teams took the floor Tuesday night in what may well have been a preview of the District 9A-3 Championship.
And, given the exciting game the ensued — a game that ended in overtime with a 73-68 victory for the Mustangs — it would be a district final that hoops fans would gladly sign up for.
Wekiva improved to 5-1 and West Orange fell to 5-1 with the result.
The two teams will meet again Jan. 10 in Winter Garden and possibly again in the District 9A-3 Tournament in early February.
