APOPKA Jeremy Johnson had a game-high 23 points and the Wekiva Mustangs took outright possession of first place in the ultra-competitive Class 9A, District 3 Jan. 11 with a 71-52 victory over Evans.
The Mustangs (13-4) led by six points at half time before decidedly pulling away in the second half.
Paul Reed added a double-double for Wekiva, scoring 17 points and pulling in 14 rebounds.
Evans (10-5) was led by Kimani Binder's 17 points. Jordan Collins added 14 points.
With the win, Wekiva improved to 3-1 in district play, with Evans falling to 2-2 alongside West Orange. Apopka is 1-3.
