Over spring break, the West Orange High School’s Concert Choir traveled to New York City to perform in Carnegie Hall.

They were one of 11 choirs that performed in the Distinguished Concerts International New York held on March 19. The concert, titled “I Hear America Singing,” featured the music of composers André Thomas and Greg Gilpin.

The West Orange High Concert Choir opened the concert with three musical selections, including “Gloria Fanfare” by Jeffery Ames, “The Road Home by Stephen Paulus and “Flight Song” by Kim André Arnesen.

Following the performance by the choir, composers Greg Gilpin and André Thomas each conducted eight of their own works.

The Distinguished Concerts International New York was founded in 2007 and regularly produces concerts featuring choirs and performers from across the country.
