Winter Garden resident and former city commissioner Theo Graham was recognized for his dedication at the city’s annual Memorial Day ceremony Monday, May 29. Graham organized the program for 25 years and was responsible for helping raise the necessary funds for the war memorial.
A total of 24 names of Winter Garden residents are engraved on the granite structure. Wreaths were placed in front of the wall in recognition of World Wars I and II and the Korean and Vietnam wars.
Guest speaker Jack Stultz, a retired Army lieutenant general, spoke of the numerous wars and said, “We pause today to celebrate the spirit of America, … to protect our future.”
Les Jones, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, played taps at the close of the ceremony.
