WINTER PARK The West Orange football team felt like it had something to prove in its postseason bowl game appearance Thursday night.
The Warriors, who missed out on the playoffs this fall within the new point system format, would have been in under the prior system because they were district runners-up in the FHSAA's District 8A-4.
So, West Orange (7-4) decided to make a statement in its appearance in the Gergley Bowl against Lyman at Showalter Field in Winter Park — a statement to the tune of a 70-32 victory over the Greyhounds.
Highlighting the night was sophomore running back Nemea Hall, who rushed for five touchdowns and 332 yards in the game — both single-game records for the Warriors.
