Kim Dannenberg, owner of Gracie’s of Winter Garden, provided a chance for some loving animals to find their forever homes at her eighth anniversary and adoption day celebration on Saturday, Nov. 18.
The Winter Garden Police Department brought its K-9 unit for demonstrations, and a local resident stopped by with her two baby goats, Reba and Barbara Jean.
Booths were set up by sponsor organizations Candy's Cats, Winter Garden Canines, Blackwood Nutrition, Mid Western Pets, Healing for Pets, Big Paw Trainer, Weruva, AlleyCat's, Polka-dogz and Gainesville Rabbit Rescue.
Dannenberg recently teamed up with Grace Community Church and sent more than 100 bags of dog food to Puerto Rico in the wake of devastating hurricane destruction.
She got the idea to make the donation after a customer bought a bag to donate through her church. She was so touched by the idea that she sold the dog food to the customer at cost, and then she decided to join the cause. For every bag purchased and donated to Puerto Rico, Dannenberg matched it.
The secretary of Grace Community Church is from Puerto Rico, Dannenberg said, and she confirmed the dog food donation arrived and was distributed.
