OCOEE The first-year Windermere Wolverines volleyball team made it to the District 8A-5 Final this week and — in doing so — the Wolverines will be headed to the program's first playoff appearance next week.
The Wolverines first defeated Edgewater and West Port in the district quarterfinals and semifinals before ultimately falling to East Ridge (23-2) Oct. 19, 3-1 (26-24, 25-14, 23-25, 25-16).
And, though Windermere (11-8) came up short in the district final, head coach Layla West was nonetheless complimentary of her team, which has no seniors, for its progress throughout the season.
"It means a lot — I'm so proud of the team that we've built and how the girls came together," West said.
Windermere will now prepare to travel to Hagerty (18-2) at 7 p.m. Oct. 25.
