ORLANDO The West Orange Warriors beat the Freedom Patriots 14-0 in a weather-shortened game Friday night.
After a slow start, the Warriors' first points came by way of a blocked field goal in the second quarter. The kick was blocked and picked up by West Orange's Garrett Clark, who ran the ball back roughly 70 yards for a touchdown.
Later, still in the second quarter, Elijah Stimmell came was brought in at quarterback and connected on a goal-line touchdown pass to Darrell Harding.
In the closing moments of the first half, the Warriors blocked one more field goal attempt to preserve the first-half shutout. Shortly after halftime began, the field was cleared for a lightning delay and eventually the game was called with West Orange ahead, thus giving it the victory.
The Warriors (1-1) will host Dr. Phillips (1-0) next Friday.
