For a second consecutive week, Hurricane Irma has impacted the high-school football schedule, this time with several games being postponed, rescheduled or cancelled as cleanup efforts around Central Florida are ongoing and many still do not have power restored.
Just one game involving a local team remains on the schedule for Friday, with two games rescheduled for next week and a handful of games without an announced make-up date.
On Wednesday afternoon, Orange County Public Schools announced that games involving its teams had been moved to Monday, Oct. 9. To pair with that decision, games involving OCPS teams that were scheduled for Friday, Oct. 5, have been bumped up one day to Thursday, Oct. 6, to allow for an extra day between games.
Games scheduled for next Friday, Sept. 22, have not been changed and games scheduled for Friday, Oct. 13 — the Friday after the newly-relocated Monday games — will remain in place.
