WINTER GARDEN — The West Orange Warriors and Olympia Titans boys lacrosse teams met Thursday evening for a match significant beyond its implications within the West Division of the Metro Conference.
The regular season match was the first game played on the new synthetic turf playing surface at West Orange High, which replaced the turf that was damaged during Hurricane Irma in September — meaning it was also the first home game of the season for the Warriors, who had played their previous nine games away from West Orange.
The Warriors (10-0) christened their new field with a dominant 20-2 win over their nearby rivals. Olympia fell to 5-8 with the loss.
West Orange was led by a game-high five goals from Logan Mueller. Sam Malaussena had six saves in goal and Caleb Haith recovered five groundballs.
