SANFORD It would have been easy — sensible, even — to have counted out the Winter Garden Squeeze when they trailed the host Sanford River Rats 9-4 through six innings Thursday night.
So much for sensibility.
After getting one run back in the top of the seventh inning, the Squeeze (10-12-1) pushed across seven runs in the eighth and seven more in the ninth — totaling 15-unanswered runs — to earn a 19-9 victory two days ahead of the Florida Collegiate Summer League All-Star Game.
Five hitters for the Squeeze had multi-RBI games, led by Sadler Goodwin (Troy University) and Hunter Kamplain (Shelton State) with three RBIs apiece. Aaron Anderson (Flagler College) went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and Reeder Smith (Dyersburg State) also scored three times.
Goodwin also pitched three scoreless innings of relief, earning the win on the mound in the high-scoring affair.
