After a strong showing at a local camp at Celebration High earlier this year, West Orange rising junior Lexan Coleman was invited to a USA Football camp at in Canton, Ohio, to hone his skills. Coleman did so well, in fact, that he was recognized as the Defensive Lineman MVP for the event July 1.
It was amazing, with all the hard work I put in. Last year, I didn’t do so good (at the camp), but this year I just pushed forward and got better. I just tried my hardest every play.
I’ve learned different techniques and how to do stuff better — the stance, what to read from the offensive lineman, and to shuffle down with them when they go down the line.
My favorite memory was running down the field and chasing a guy down 40 yards for a tackle.
Tre Jackson and Julian Pittman. I just like their leadership and I always had a connection with them.
Windermere. I’ve got friends on the team and it’s a rivalry.
Going to Nationals and getting to skip a couple days of school while playing a sport I love.
I always have two moves in my head. If one doesn’t work, I’ll do the other one, and I approach every play like it’s the last play of the season — all-out.
Fletcher Cox (Philadelphia Eagles) and J.J. Watt (Houston Texans).
Right now, it would be “NBA 2K” and maybe “Fortnite.” My favorite team to play with in “NBA 2K” is the Philadelphia 76ers, because my family is from Philly.
To work in the medical field with athletes.
Probably overseas, London. I like the way the culture is.
