Windermere Prep names new boys basketball coach | Observer Preps

The Windermere Prep boys basketball program was not without a head coach for long. 

Three weeks after former coach Ben Wilson announced his resignation April 25, the school announced May 16 that it had hired Brian Hoff as the new head coach for the program.

Hoff comes to the Lakers after spending the past six seasons as the associate head coach at Providence School in Jacksonville, working under head coach Jim Martin — a four-time Coach of the Year in Florida.

During his time with the Stallions, Hoff was part of a program that went 157-28 and advanced to four Final Fours in Lakeland, while winning two state championships. During the time Hoff was on campus in Jacksonville, the program at Providence has had 23 college signees, including Duke University standout Grayson Allen.

The new head coach for the Lakers also has experience working at the collegiate level, for Oklahoma State, and working in basketball operations for the Phoenix Suns, for which he provided statistical analysis. As a player, Hoff won a state championship at Arlington Country Day in 2005, after which he walked-on at Florida State, where he played from 2005-2009.

"We are thrilled to welcome Brian as an exceptional addition to our Laker Athletics Coaching Staff," Windermere Prep Athletic Director Jacob Doss said in a release. "Coach Hoff comes to us with a wealth of basketball knowledge, experience and enthusiasm to jump in and begin working with our Laker basketball players!"
