The town of Windermere dedicated its Veterans Memorial in front of Town Hall on Veterans Day, and now, in time for Memorial Day, it has recognized its benefactors with a plaque at the memorial. A number of donors were on hand to witness Bill Criswell pull the cord to unveil the bronze marker in the center of the memorial on Monday, May 21.
“Tonight is a way to honor all these people who donated to bring this project to fruition,” Mayor Gary Bruhn said.
The veterans project was a partnership between the town of Windermere, Rotary Club of Windermere and multiple individual contributors.
More than $40,000 was raised. Monies in excess of the costs of the construction and installation of the memorial are being donated to veterans projects through the Rotary Club.
Criswell was instrumental in bringing the memorial to Windermere.
