Seth Daniels, a sophomore for the Windermere Prep football team, made quite an impression on Lakers head coach Jacob Doss and his staff this spring. Daniels excelled on both sides of the ball and shined during a soggy spring game against Oviedo’s The Master’s Academy May 16.

What was the experience of the spring game, getting to take the field with your teammates while also navigating poor weather?

I was super excited to be out there — I loved getting it going. The rain, though — the rain was a huge problem. It got us unorganized. … I mean, it felt great to be out there, and I just had a great time playing with my teammates.

How do you think the spring season went for the team?

We were just really focused on getting as good as we can in a short amount of time. … I know a lot of people were focusing on transitioning into different roles on this team. I think the spring went well, even though we lost in our game.

What do you enjoy about playing for the coaching staff at Windermere Prep?

I love how the coaches are just so experienced, and they’ve all played at a high level and some have coached at high levels. They know the game and they talk to us realistically about how we can get to the next level. They’re helping us do that, and I feel like they do a great job of getting athletes in front of (college) coaches.

Who is a collegiate or professional player you admire?

Of course, I love my cousin Matt Forte (former running back for the Chicago Bears and New York Jets). I’ve always admired the way he plays the position, and it was just great watching family out there playing.

Do you have any cool stories related to having a cousin in the NFL?

Recently, I think two years ago, I went to a Jets game when he played for them and I got to sit in the skybox. My dad will always send him clips of my games, and he’ll comment or post them on social media. … He’s always just told me to keep working hard. He’ll watch my film and tell me things I’m doing well — he’s a great role model.

What was your favorite class this year?

My favorite class this year at Windermere Prep was my 10th-grade (Honors) English class, taught by Logan Stumph. We do a very high level of thinking, and he (Stumph) just gets your mind working a very creative way.

What are some areas of study you might like to pursue?

I love film production, and I love music, so I would love doing something like being a music producer or anything in film production. I plan to study film production in college.

What is a good movie you have recently watched?

I love the recent movie “Black Panther” — I love the film and how it focused on African-American heroes, and a society and a different culture we hadn’t necessarily seen with superheroes before.

After practice, what’s your go-to meal?

The first thing I crave when I’m starving is barbecue meatballs — my mom makes about 50 of them, and I just end up eating them throughout the night, with whatever vegetables and starches.

Did you hear “Laurel” or “Yanny”?

I couldn’t hear either one of them. I heard a low-pitched “Laurel,” possibly, but I couldn’t hear a high-pitched anything.
