Obituary: Stephen Wayne "Steve" Rew

In loving memory of Stephen Wayne “Steve” Rew, 69, of Yalaha, Florida, who peacefully went to be with his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2018.

Steve was born in Orlando, Florida, and raised in Ocoee, where he graduated from Mid-Florida Technical Institute. After graduation, Steve spent four years in the Navy as a machinist, earning an honorable discharge in 1972.

From there, Steve worked for General Elevator before venturing out in business with his brother, Kevin Rew. He retired in 2010.

Steve was predeceased by his life partner and soulmate, Lynette A. Scott, along with his son, Jonathan Scott, and close family friend, Vicki Martin. He is survived by his brother, Kevin; former wife, Merry Rew; and his children, Lia Rew-Sanchez, Michael Scott, Jennifer Alas and Steven Scott. He also is survived by his five grandchildren, Madison, Caitlyn, Parker, Alec and Cameron; as well as his sister-in-law, Teresa Rew; and nieces, Sara Bobbie and Emma Rew.

A funeral service in Steve’s memory will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at Collison Carey Hand Funeral Home located at 1148 E. Plant St. in Winter Garden, Florida.
