It was a five set thriller at East Ridge High School on Thursday, Oct. 18, that saw East Ridge edge out Windermere 3-2 in the 8A District 5 championship game.
After the Knights' (23-0) comeback to take the first set 25-23, the Wolverines (18-6) bounced back to take set two 25-21. The third set would see the Wolverines hold off a late rally to win 25-22 — giving the away side a 2-1 lead.
The fourth set would see the Knights take over with a big run halfway through the set before going on to tie the game up at 2-2 with a 25-16 win. The Knights would seal up the win in the fifth and final set with a score of 15-12.
Despite the hard fought loss, the Wolverines will now make their way to the state playoffs where they'll take on Hagerty on Wednesday, Oct. 24.
