In a battle of unbeaten teams, the Legacy Eagles were unable to keep pace with the high-powered offense of the All Saints Academy Saints, losing their first game of the season, 26-7.
After falling behind 6-0 with 5:20 left in the first quarter, the Eagles (3-1) responded on the ensuing drive with a 25-yard touchdown pass from Jacob Worley to Gabriel Chambless with 2:05 remaining in the quarter. The Saints would respond to briefly falling behind by scoring 20-unanswered points, keeping their undefeated season in tact while giving Legacy their first loss.
“They were very physical,” Legacy head coach Trent Hopper stated about All Saints Academy. “Big (offensive) line. They outweighed us across the offensive line — we didn’t adjust to it quick enough.”
The Eagles will look to bounce back next week when they host the Orangewood Christian Rams (2-1).
“No quit,” Hopper said, reflecting on what he’s going to tell his team before they face the Rams next week. “They gotta make sure that this isn’t the end of the world in the regular season. Our goals are still in tact — everything we wanna accomplish this season is still a reality, so we’re just gonna focus on that.”
