THIRD ANNUAL EASTER FEST

FIFTH ANNUAL CELEBRATION AMONG THE OAKS
11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at the Oakland Meeting Hall, 221 N. Arrington St. Meet the Easter Bunny from 11 a.m. to noon and 12:15 to 1:15 p.m., participate in the egg hunt from noon to 12:30 p.m., and enjoy bounce houses, a petting zoo and pony rides, face painting, train rides, food trucks and more.

14TH ANNUAL SOUTHWEST AUTHOR SERIES
6:30 p.m. Friday, April 12, at the Southwest Library, 7255 Della Drive, Orlando. Celebrate National Library Month with the author series, presented in partnership with the Rotary Club of Dr. Phillips. Melanie Benjamin, author of “The Girls in the Picture” and “The Aviator’s Wife,” will speak and sign copies of her books. A book sale will follow the presentation. EARTH DAY IN THE PARK
11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at Shady Park in Hannibal Square at the corner of Pennsylvania and New England avenues, Winter Park. Ceremonial events from the main stage will include Winter Park Green School Grant award presentations. There will be fun for all ages, including live music, live cooking demonstrations, gardening workshops, storybook time, games, crafts, adult and child yoga, composting and recycling education, food and beverage vendors, a tree giveaway, and more. NIGHT AT THE PRESERVE

The elegant event features hors d’oeuvres and desserts, wine and beer selections, great music, chance raffles and a lakeside champagne toast at sunset. Proceeds support the continued work of ONP. “THE SAGE PROJECT PHASE II: HANNIBAL SQUARE ELDERS TELL THEIR STORIES”
April 12 through Aug. 31 in the upstairs Visiting Artists Gallery at the Hannibal Square Heritage Center, 642 W. New England Ave., Winter Park. Hundreds of hours of arduous research and art-making come together when the Hannibal Square Heritage Center unveils 17 new photographic portraits and living histories taken from their most senior residents — now in their 80s and 90s — who are natives or longtime residents of the black westside Winter Park community. The unveiling will take place at 7 p.m. Friday, April 12, and a panel discussion will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 13. The project brings together the passions and documentary commitments of the team of Fairolyn H. Livingston, Mary Daniels and Peter Schreyer, who have been selected as Winter Park Influentials by Winter Park Magazine in recognition of their efforts to preserve and celebrate the people and places of the deeply rooted black community of Hannibal Square in west Winter Park.
