Nine hundred backpacks of assorted colors were stacked at the entrance of Prairie Lake Elementary, ready to be handed out to the entire student population. Families were invited to the pick-a-pack and glow party event held Friday, Aug. 2. Additional backpacks will be handed out during the school’s Meet Your Teacher.
XL 106.7 radio station provided the backpacks and their contents — a notebook, folder, pencil and sharpener, glue stick, crayon, ruler and scissors — through the Baby DJ Fund.
Inside the darkened cafeteria, guests could join in a glow party complete with dance music and fluorescent balloons, hula hoops, bracelets and games.
