1. West Orange High football will be hosting its Football & Business Community Coffee event from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, at Tanner Hall. On hand will be new Warriors Head Coach Dee Brown and special guest speakers, who will discuss the history of the program and the positive role it has on the community.

 

2. Ocoee basketball’s Alston Andrews and David Green were named to the East All-Star team at the HoopGroup basketball camp on Friday, July 19. The national camp is held at East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania, and features some of the best high-school talent on the East Coast.

 

3. On Tuesday, July 16, Ocoee High School announced the arrival of Geoffry Rose, who will be taking over the school’s softball program. Rose will look to rebuild and reload a program that last year went 3-21, and 0-11 in district play.

 

4. In the Winter Garden Squeeze’s 7-5 loss to Seminole County on Sunday, July 14, Bryce Jackson had a strong showing offensively, as he went 3-for-5 with two RBI while also scoring two runs. He was followed up by Dalton Sheffield’s 2-for-5 hitting and Brenden Frese’s 2-for-4 night.

 

5. Foundation Academy will have a handful of new coaches going into the 2019-20 school year, including: Chase Newman (head baseball coach), Nathaniel Hughes (assistant JV football/head JV basketball coach), Chandler Warren (varsity football QB coach, assistant varsity baseball and MS basketball), Wright Bynum (offensive coordinator, football), Jackson Kewaski (quarterbacks coach), Steven Charles (defensive backs/assistant lacrosse coach), Tony Consolino (golf), Andre Walker and Christie Thompson (weightlifting).
