Obituary: Linda Marlene Vandergrift

Beloved daughter, mother, Mimi and friend, Linda Marlene Vandergrift, 79, of Ocoee, Florida, died Friday, March 1, 2019. She leaves behind a legacy of three children, Donna Deitrick (Greg), Lee Vandergrift and Marsha Vandergrift; two grandchildren, Brent Deitrick (Alana) and Chelsea Antrup (Jason), and great-granddaughter; Dawson Deitrick. She was predeceased by her parents, Adele and Barney Driskill. 

Linda was a stay-home mother for 20 years and then returned to the work force at age 45 for the Orange County Property Appraiser’s office where she mapped property in Orange County for 20 years, retiring at 65. She was a talented artist, loved a good card game and shoe shopping.

She was married to Sam Scott Vandergrift for 25 years. An amazing mother who allowed her children the freedom to be children, supporting their every dream and heartbreak. Always there with laughter and love; this woman will be missed deeply and cherished forever. 

A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, March 30, at 175 Dogwood Ave., Orange City, 32763, the home of her daughter Marsha Vandergrift. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for butterfly plants that can be planted in memory of their mother.
