Off and on rain couldn't stop senior day at Windermere High, as the Wolverines took a 6-4 win over rival West Orange on Wednesday, May 1.
The Wolverines (20-4, 11-0) opened up scoring first with two runs in the bottom of the first on a passed ball and fielder's choice, before the Warriors (13-10, 4-2) would respond with two runs of their own two innings later to tie it up at 2-2.
From there it would be a back and forth brawl between the two rivals, before the Warriors would pull ahead 4-3 on an RBI single from Ricky Reeth. The lead wouldn't last long, as the Wolverines hit pay dirt with an RBI single from Tyler Ostendorf and a two RBI double by Dayton Romig to put the home side up 6-4 in the bottom of the sixth.
The Warriors would load the bases in the top of the seventh, but Wolverines' closer Palmer Bittick got out of the jam to get the save. Bittick took over for Noah Janney — who threw five innings, and struck out four.
