Obituary: Betty (Hammond) Minor

Betty (Hammond) Minor, age 90, of Ocoee, Florida, walked into the arms of Jesus on April 23, 2019. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 4, at Glad Tidings Church, 2009 E. Fullers Cross Road, Ocoee, Florida, with a visitation at 10:30 a.m. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery. Reception to follow at church.

Preceded in death by husband, Leonard; brother, John Hammond; son-in-law, 1st Lt. David J. Nairn.

Survived by children, Mike (Patsy) and Tammy (Lee) Freshour; grandchildren, Jennifer, David, Katie (Tina), Nathan and Alina; three great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by all those she considered her children and grandchildren.

Betty was a teacher at Ocoee Elementary and had a passion for teaching children to read. She was active in her church and loved to travel. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing her piano and playing Scrabble with whoever would play with her and fall for her made-up words.

She was a wonderful mother who was fiercely protective and loyal to her family. She was a kind and generous woman, and she will be missed.
